BACKGROUND:

Wycklife Odhiambo Oyoo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in good standing having been admitted to the Bar on 31st January 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Moi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.  He is an Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates. His main area of practice is civil and commercial litigation involving complex commercial disputes, debt collection, employment law, tax law, land law and Intellectual property disputes among others. He also handles criminal litigation matters and disputes before various specialized tribunals.

EXPERIENCE:

• Took part in the representation of the Law Society of Kenya in the Willie Kimani Murder Case alongside Senior Counsel Dr. Fred Ojiambo. The matter has huge implications on the respect and upholding of the rule of law and taming police brutality. 

• Participated in the drafting and presentation of Petition No.6 of 2013; C K W v Attorney General & another [2014] eKLR challenging the constitutionality of sections 8 and 11 of the Sexual Offences Act.

• Assisting in recording victim statements and pursuing representation with Kituo Cha Sheria, Mombasa Branch.

• Advisory services on State prosecution of criminal cases for several multi-nationals in diverse areas of law.

AGENDA IF ELECTED TO THE LSK COUNCIL:

• Enhance and restructure public interest litigation and legal aid services.

• Promote members’ welfare and practice.

• Support mentorship and support programmes for Advocates and bridge the professional gap between Seniors and Juniors in the profession.

• Expand social and recreational activities in keeping with the spirit of devolution.

• Review and restructure LSK activities such as CPDs and levies such as fees for Practicing Certificates.
